Objectives: The Management Model for Providers of Continuing
Education in a university context is to reduce complexity of the theme
in two different ways. On the one hand it is designed as a practical
guideline for everyday work. One the other hand it constitutes the
reference framework for curriculum development and hightens the profile
of the programme Continuing Education Management/Continuing Education
Leadership which is being implemented at the University of Bern
(starting in March 2008).
Description: The Management Model for Providers of Continuing
Education (FWB) (2006) developed by Prof. K. Weber, Dr. P. Th. Senn and Dr. A. Fischer
focuses on Continuing Education and therefore considers the environment
of organisations providing Continuing Education. The FWB reflects specific management tasks on the
normativ, strategic and functional level of an Continuing Education
organisation.
Moreover it displays multilevel management functions
which aim at the efficient and effective use of resources and the
adequate delivery of performance, whereas competent management personal
forms the basis of the FWB.
Currently the professional skills of ACE staff are being
defined and consecutively structured at the basis of 7 fields of
competences.
