Adult and continuing education has developed in a
number of institutional, non-formal programmes, and teaching has
increasingly become a professional occupation. At the same time
the importance of informal learning in work life, community and families
has again been recognized, and the development of new information and
communication technologies has radically changed the social and spatial
conditions of adult learning. The workshop will deal with the changing
role of formal and non-formal education, the new types and conditions of
teaching, and the development of new and different forms of pedagogical
support for adult learning.
Professor Henning Salling Olesen, Roskilde
University, DK, will give an introductory presentation to the workshop
theme.
Professor Staffan Larsson, Linkoping University,
SE, will give a presentation to the theme on the background of a
relatively differentiated system of adult and continuing education.
